The Annual Awards Ceremony for the Ballybay/Clones MD took place on Wednesday 6th May in the Creighton Hotel, Clones. The ceremony honours community groups who were successful in applying for and being awarded funding under Monaghan County Council’s Community and Environment Funds. These grants enable the recipient groups to purchase equipment and run activities/events to benefit people in the local community.
A measure of how active local groups are in the Rockcorry area was evident by the large number of groups, eight in total, who were there to receive their awards from the Cathaoirleach of Ballybay/Clones Municipal District Cllr. Sinead Flynn. Susan Clarke and Geraldine McKenna represented Rockcorry ICA. Joanne and Nancy Greenan represented Rockcorry Community Games while RCDA was represented by Pascal Smyth and Oonagh Daly. Rockcorry Christmas Tree Committee was represented by Karren Matthews and Oonagh Daly. Brian McGill represented Rockcorry Tidy Towns. Linda Moore attended on behalf of Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes. Gerry Coyle represented Kilmore-Swann’s Cross Community Alert while Valerie Dunwoody attended on behalf of Rockcorry National School.
RCDA would like to congratulate our fellow recipients and thank Monaghan Council for providing this financial support. See a select of photos below.
