Rockcorry Community Development Association (RCDA) again wish to convey a heartfelt thanks to all who supported their recent fundraising event – a memorable concert by the Cavan Singers in St Mary’s Church, Rockcorry on Friday 27th March.

The concert was billed as a night not to be missed and this is exactly how it panned out. This was a brilliant night of music, song and fun. Those in attendance were held spellbound for two hours of top-quality entertainment.

Rockcorry Community Development Association thanks everyone who supported the event, and express particular appreciation to Brian McGill and the Cavan Singers who entertained the packed church with some beautiful renditions of some favourite songs.

The Association is extremely grateful to the choir for generously performing free of charge, and to Fr. White and the Parish Council for allowing the concert to take place in the beautiful venue of St Mary’s. Its appreciation also goes out to all who supported the venture, particularly those who bought tickets but were unable to attend on the night.

Total income from ticket sales and donations came to €6,845. Total expenses amounted to €1,903. Nett Income, therefore, was just short of €5,000 at a final figure of €4,942. Funds raised will go to meet the ‘match funding’ requirement when RCDA applies to various funders like Monaghan Co Co, Department of Rural and Community Affairs, Clar, Leader, etc., for support with community projects. These projects, outlined in the Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030, will include recreational facilities like a playground, walkways, etc. The local ‘match funding’ requirement is normally 10%, with the remaining 90% coming from the funding agency. Therefore, this €5,000 raised could potentially fund a project costing €50,000. Even the smallest local contributions mean so much.

They say that in a small rural community, the heart beats a little slower, but when we come together, it beats with a power that can move mountains. ‘Together we can make a difference’.
