Following the information meeting two weeks ago, the AGM proper of Rockcorry Tidy Towns Committee takes place this Thursday 24th October at 8pm.

The AGM, which will set up the new TidyTowns Committee, will take place in Rockcorry National School on the Cootehill road.

Why bother, we might ask?

Volunteerism, the act of contributing to your community, is as important now as it ever was. Rather than receiving a financial reward, volunteers change the lives of their community members out of feelings of social responsibility and a desire to give back. But it is not a one-way street. The volunteer also gets loads of benefits in return. Many people are able to find purpose through volunteering and becoming part of something greater.

Helping others can give your life new meaning and keep you mentally stimulated. It can help you feel connected to others in your community. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends as well as strengthen existing connections with friends, family or coworkers. Sharing a common interest will help you build closer relationships with those around you. Volunteering may boost your self-esteem and self-confidence. When you do something you feel is worthwhile and valuable for your community, it gives you a sense of accomplishment that may help you feel more fulfilled.

The shared vision, as outlined in the Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030 is ‘to create a sustainable, attractive and vibrant village for Rockcorry residents, communities, businesses and visitors’. Becoming an active member of your local Tidy Towns group would be a great way to achieve this.

Please come along and lend your support. Your village needs you!
