On Thursday last a very successful meeting, with the purpose of setting up a new Tidy Towns Committee, was held in Rockcorry National School. It was organised by the newly formed Rockcorry Community Development Association (RCDA).

The Tidy Towns meeting was primarily an information event designed as a precursor to an AGM proper. The well attended gathering was informed of the proposed organisational structure of the new Tidy Towns Committee and the close links that will exist between the aims of RCDA and the Tidy Towns group. Many of the aims outlined in the Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030 can be achieved through the vehicle of the Tidy Towns Committee.

A brief overview of the current healthy financial state of the former Tidy Towns group was provided. This was followed by a very informative presentation, by a visiting speaker, Jennifer McAree, on the establishment and work of a Tidy Towns Committee.Sincere thanks to Jennifer for giving up her evening to come and talk to us.

This website has now been updated with the Tidy Towns Handbook and a back catalogue of Tidy Towns Newsletters. A browse through some of the newsletters is an excellent way of seeing what other Tidy Towns groups throughout the country are doing and a great way of generating ideas for our new group going forward.

The AGM, which will set up the new Tidy Towns Committee, will take place in Rockcorry National School on the Cootehill road on Thursday 24th October at 8pm. Follow us on social media, facebook and X, for confirmation of this meeting.

The shared vision, as outlined in the Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030 is ‘to create a sustainable, attractive and vibrant village for Rockcorry residents, communities, businesses and visitors’. What better way to achieve this than to become an active member of your local Tidy Towns group?
